Competition 2015-2016

About the Competition

The first CJN international student competition based on cross-border projects took place in the 2015-2016 school year. Projects were developed during our CJN seminars for EU Jewish schools. These border-jumping projects connected students with Jewish students in other countries (including also Jewish schools in the US and in Israel), and their knowledge had broaden in the topics of Jewish life and culture, history, gastronomy, doing research, or the art of storytelling.

Students made 5-10 minute videos from one of the three topics:

  • Virtual Walking Tour
  • Family History
  • Cookbook

Here are the winners:

Cookbook category: Falshe Fish / Gefilte fish – I.E. Lichtigfeld School (Frankfurt, Germany) & Lauder Javne School (Budapest, Hungary)

Virtual Walking Tour category: Marmorosch Blank Bank – Lauder-Reut Educational Complex (Bucharest, Romania)

Family History category: Shining Star: The Willpower of Siblings to Survive – The Jewish Day School Bellevue (WA, USA)

All the videos can be found on our Border Jumping page.

Thank you to everyone who participated! We hope to see your great projects next year!
