About our partnership

Centropa is a non-profit Jewish historical and educational institute dedicated to preserve 20th-century Jewish family stories and photos from Central and Eastern Europe and the Balkans and disseminating these stories and photos through films, books, and exhibitions.

The NLI, established in 1892, is unique among the great libraries of the world. It is the prime institution of national memory– not only of the Israeli nation, but also of the Jewish people throughout the world. Its mission is to serve as a home for the collections, archives, manuscripts, documents, maps, music and other audio treasures, graphic creations, audiovisual creations and electronic documents, as well as other items of unique national, historic or cultural significance.

In our cooperation, we combine the historical primary sources that are housed in the NLI archives together with the family and personal stories documented in the oral histories collected by Centropa. Based on these, we develop rich resource packs for educators with films, primary sources, worksheets and teaching suggestions – for various subjects and age groups.
